The event

was a prisoner; and prisoner, forward, turned round, looked

towards boatswain, and

laugh. Boatswain went after prisoner

and asked him what he meant

by giving

such a laugh. Prisoner

did not reply;

and Bro. & Ken pushed

him. I do not recollect whether he struck him with the open or

closed hand. When Mr. H came aft after this striking prisoner, he said to him that prisoner had a

bad intention towards him. Boat-

swain replied that prisoner was a

bad man, had been disrated, and was not fit

to be on board ship. I consider that prisoner, after this e-

vent, had ill will to boat-

swain.

I took prisoner into cus-

tody,

the 20 #Catcher, he was dredged.

He is now dressed [prisoner is dressed

on Saturday]. I never heard prisoner threaten to do harm to Boatswain. I am unable to say

whether prisoner

voluntarily agreed

to serve on

board

the Harlequin. I do not think that

any

one on deck heard what prisoner [said].
